Puerto Rican singer-songwriter and Latin GRAMMY® nominee Jay Wheeler lit up the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot over the weekend with two SOLD-OUT performances of his “Girasoles” concert, marking his seventh and eighth shows at the island’s most prestigious venue. The monumental performances earned Wheeler a special recognition from the Coliseo for his growing artistic legacy and deep connection with his homeland.
Produced by José “Pepe” Dueño and creatively directed by Gabriel Gil from Golden Hour Music, “Girasoles” represented more than just a concert it was a statement of emotional evolution and artistic maturity. Under his own label, Dynamic Records, founded alongside his manager Luis Suárez Silva “Siru,” Wheeler showcased a world-class production that combined innovation, soul, and gratitude.
A Stage Like No Other
The stage design spearheaded by José Díaz (DHI Studios) in collaboration with Golden Hour Music delivered a breathtaking, immersive experience. A 130-foot semicircular screen and a 53-foot sunflower centerpiece crafted by Puerto Rican art collective AS&S created the visual heart of the show. At its core stood a rotating stage, currently the only one of its kind in Puerto Rico, which often featured a 20-piece symphonic ensemble of students from the Escuela Libre de Música and the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music.
Behind the scenes, nearly 150 professionals powered the production, including a seven-piece band, twelve dancers, and over eighty technical specialists. The wardrobe by Gax Company added a modern flair, perfectly aligning with Wheeler’s current creative era and the symbolic tone of “Girasoles.”
Two Nights of Gratitude and Growth
“These shows represent everything I’ve learned and everything that continues to grow within me,” said Jay Wheeler, visibly emotional as he addressed the packed arena. “Singing at home will always be a unique experience. Each sunflower represents light and happiness everything I’m living right now as an artist.”
