Grupo Frontera and Alejandro Fernández Bridge Generations on “Cada Vez Me Gusta Más”

Latin GRAMMY-winning and GRAMMY-nominated Grupo Frontera have joined forces with Alejandro Fernández on “Cada Vez Me Gusta Más,” a new norteño ballad built around the emotional tension of impossible love. The track, produced by Edgar Barrera, is now available on digital platforms, with its official video capturing the artists performing together along the beaches of Nayarit.

The collaboration matters because it places Grupo Frontera in direct conversation with one of Mexican music’s most recognizable voices. Fernández brings the weight of a legacy tied to ranchera, mariachi, and música mexicana tradition, while Grupo Frontera continues to represent a newer generation that has helped push norteño and regional Mexican sounds into global streaming and arena spaces.

“Cada Vez Me Gusta Más” leans into heartbreak without overcomplicating its message. The song centers on a love that may not be convenient, but remains emotionally unavoidable. With Fernández’s vocal presence, the record gains a dramatic edge that expands Grupo Frontera’s usual romantic language into something more classic and cinematic.

The timing is notable. Grupo Frontera also announced their upcoming norteño EP, “Con dolor – Grupo Frontera,” set for release on May 28. The project is being positioned as a return to the group’s roots, following “Ojitos Bellos” as an early preview and signaling a more grounded phase after their rapid mainstream rise.

For Grupo Frontera, this is less about chasing another viral moment and more about reinforcing credibility inside música mexicana. After helping define the modern crossover moment for regional Mexican music, the group now appears focused on deepening the foundation that made them resonate in the first place: emotional songwriting, norteño instrumentation, and collaborations that connect generations instead of simply stacking names.

That strategy also extends to the road. Grupo Frontera’s “Triste Pero Bien C*brón Tour” includes a Mexico City stop at Arena CDMX on May 8, with additional dates across Mexico and international markets. Alejandro Fernández, meanwhile, continues his “De Rey a Rey” tour, a tribute to his father Vicente Fernández, with 2026 dates extending across major U.S. markets.

What makes this release important is its positioning. Grupo Frontera is not abandoning the modern sound that brought them global attention; they are anchoring it more firmly in tradition. With Alejandro Fernández involved, “Cada Vez Me Gusta Más” becomes a statement about continuity in Mexican music, one generation opening space for another while reminding listeners that emotional storytelling remains the genre’s strongest currency.

As “Con dolor – Grupo Frontera” approaches, the next question is whether the EP fully commits to that roots-driven direction or uses it as a bridge into the group’s next commercial chapter. Either way, “Cada Vez Me Gusta Más” gives the rollout a strong cultural frame.
