Puerto Rican rapper CONEP is entering a defining moment in his career with the release of TRAPPii 2, his latest studio album through Dynamic Records, the label founded by Jay Wheeler, with distribution from EMPIRE. Arriving as the sequel to the artist’s TRAPPii era, the 15-track project doubles down on Latin trap while showcasing a more refined creative direction built around melody, storytelling, and street-driven authenticity.

The release has already translated into measurable momentum. The official music video for “After” climbed to the No. 1 position among the world’s most-viewed music videos on YouTube, while the single simultaneously reached No. 1 on Apple Music in Puerto Rico, giving CONEP his biggest commercial moment to date.

Rather than using the album to broaden his sound into multiple commercial genres, CONEP chose the opposite approach. He explained that the project originally carried a different vision before evolving into a full commitment to trap music.

“At first, we were going to call it Ronniel because I wanted people to connect with me on a personal level. But as the process unfolded, I realized that what I was creating was trap… TRAPPii 2 represents a turning point in my career.”

That decision reflects throughout the album. Instead of chasing crossover trends, TRAPPii 2 embraces the darker textures and melodic approach that have helped redefine modern Puerto Rican trap. The project also benefits from collaborations that bridge multiple generations of the genre, including Kendo Kaponi, Jay Wheeler, Luar La L, Jon Z, Casper Mágico, ANKHAL, and several emerging collaborators who reinforce the project’s emphasis on the next generation of urban music.

The album also represents an important milestone for Dynamic Records. While Jay Wheeler has become one of Latin music’s most consistent hitmakers as an artist, the success of CONEP provides early evidence that the label is positioning itself as more than a vanity imprint. Developing artists capable of generating viral moments independently is often what separates long-term labels from artist-led side projects, and TRAPPii 2 gives Dynamic Records a significant breakthrough in that direction.

For Puerto Rican trap, the timing is equally notable. The genre has experienced renewed energy as audiences continue embracing artists who prioritize authenticity over polished crossover formulas. Instead of leaning heavily into pop or reggaetón, CONEP delivers a project that remains committed to trap’s core identity while incorporating melodic influences that make the songs accessible beyond the genre’s traditional audience. That balance has become increasingly important as younger listeners seek artists who feel connected to Puerto Rico’s underground roots without sounding repetitive.

The viral success of “After” further highlights how streaming platforms and short-form discovery continue reshaping artist development. Achieving the top position on YouTube’s global music rankings alongside strong Apple Music performance demonstrates that CONEP is building momentum across multiple platforms rather than relying on a single viral moment.

With TRAPPii 2 now available on all major streaming services and “After” continuing to generate worldwide attention, the focus now shifts toward whether CONEP can sustain this momentum throughout the album cycle. If early performance is any indication, the Puerto Rican rapper appears positioned to become one of Latin trap’s most closely watched breakout artists over the coming year.
