In a groundbreaking press conference held today at the iconic Fairmont El San Juan Hotel, in the Palmieri Ballroom, a significant announcement was made for the Baloncesto Superior Nacional Femenino (BSNF) and Puerto Rican sports. Renowned Puerto Rican rapper Lenny Tavárez was announced as the co-owner of the prestigious women’s basketball team “Las Montañeras de Morovis.” This move marks an exciting partnership between the world of music and sports, aiming to boost and support women’s basketball in Puerto Rico.

 

The press conference featured key figures such as Lenny Tavárez, the team’s principal owner, Jorge Figueroa Ortiz, and the captain of “Las Montañeras,” Pamela Rosado. The event was moderated by well-known television presenter Tania Mamery.

 

Jorge Figueroa Ortiz, co-owner of “Las Montañeras de Morovis,” expressed his gratitude: “I am extremely grateful for what’s about to unfold in this 2024 season. With Lenny Tavárez joining us, we will continue making our presence felt in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional Femenino. As the slogan goes, ‘Las Montañeras are ready to shine in 2024.’”

 

For his part, artist Lenny Tavárez, now co-owner of “Las Montañeras de Morovis,” shared his enthusiasm: “I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the development of women’s basketball and to what this season will mean for Las Montañeras de Morovis. Pamela Rosado, captain of Las Montañeras de Morovis, received a big surprise: “Las Montañeras de Morovis” dedicated the 2024 season to her. She said, “This partnership is incredibly beneficial. There will be great things happening... both for the professionals and the young athletes coming up. I have no doubt that Lenny will be with us every step of the way. It’s an honor for us to have Lenny as part of our team. Thank you for believing, showing up, and accepting us. We won’t let you down. Without a doubt, we are ready to shine this season.”

 

2024 Season Announcement and Special Dedication:

 

During the event, it was revealed that the 2024 season of “Las Montañeras de Morovis” will be dedicated to captain Pamela Rosado, who represented Puerto Rico in the 2024 Paris and 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games as the Captain of the National Women’s Basketball Team. Pamela, considered one of the most outstanding players in the history of Puerto Rican basketball, has been a champion multiple times in the local league, has participated in international tournaments, and has led her team in the Olympics, becoming an icon of the sport on the island.

 

Season Start Details:

 

The season will kick off this Sunday, August 25, 2024, with an exciting home game in Morovis against the women’s team from Lares. The game will begin at 6:00 p.m. and promises to be an unforgettable event for basketball fans in Puerto Rico. Lenny Tavárez will attend the opening and assures that the event will be a great celebration for the whole family and people of all ages.
