Just hours after the release of her highly anticipated fifth studio album “Tropicoqueta,”GRAMMY award-winning recording artist KAROL G unveils the official music video for “PAPASITO.” Reflecting the album’s central message of transformation and empowerment, the visual highlights how a woman can build her own stage, even in the darkness. Directed by Pedro Artola, the video was brought to life with the creative vision of Broadway talents Luis Salgado(scriptwriter), Sergio Trujillo (creative consultant), renowned choreographer Danielle Polanco, and set designer Nicholas Des Jardins. Starring actor Danny Ramirez, the video is a cinematic tribute to the golden age of Hollywood, infused with the drama and intensity of a telenovela. The story follows a dreamlike encounter between KAROL G and a magnetic stranger during a vibrant tropical celebration, where striking choreography heightens their chemistry and blends movement, music, and desire into a lush visual fantasy.
With “Tropicoqueta,” KAROL G unveils her most intimate, theatrical, and daring album to date–a sweeping homage to Latin culture in all its rhythm, resilience, and radiance. Rooted in nearly two years of personal and artistic evolution, the genre-blending body of work brings together vallenato and reggaetón, bachata and pop, cumbia and mariachi in a bold celebration of identity. Each track is wrapped in symbolism, dressed in the scars and splendor of a shared Latin heritage, and brought to life through a vivid visual world where the tropical meets the ancestral, the flamboyant fuses with the spiritual. Drawing inspiration from Latin American vedettes, women who were once object and subject, KAROL G transforms the stage into an altar for everything that has been denied, overlooked, or judged. Sensuality becomes power, nostalgia takes center stage, and the album itself performs, tells stories, and dances unapologetically in its truth. “This album is a love letter to who we are—to everything we feel, and the infinite universe of things that define us as Latinos,”KAROL G said in the album’s official press release. The project also features a standout cast of collaborators including Eddy Lover, Feid, Greeicy, Manu Chao, Mariah Angeliq, and Marco Antonio Solís, with creative contributions from Edgar Barrera, Leo RD, Ovy on the Drums, Pharrell Williams, and Tainy.
