From the Miami Heat to the bright lights of Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Monique “MoMo” González is living proof that when purpose meets hustle, magic hits the stage. A fearless triple threat who feels most alive behind the mic, MoMo has worn every hat, manager, marketer, and makeup artist, to keep her dream moving while sharpening a sound now rooted deeply in culture, ancestors, and spiritual lineage for her forthcoming EP. Her bold DM to Konshens turned “Tumba” into a cross-vibes collab that landed on Despierta América, reminding her (and us) that closed mouths don’t get fed. Grounded by God, meditation, and Miami’s tropical grit, she’s manifesting with action “no one’s coming to save you” on a path she sees leading to Grammys, global tours, and empowering mujeres to step into their highest selves. Grab your cafecito and dive into our full Q&A with MoMo below. ¡Vamos!

Q: You’ve lit up countless stages with your talent—was there one performance that felt truly unforgettable or career-defining for you?

A: Yes, most definitely. It was my performance at Soulfrito Music Festival which was at the Barclays Center in New York. It was my first time performing in an arena that big. I was so nervous, but once I stepped foot on stage, my soul felt right at home. I commanded that stage and crowd, as if I’ve done this a million lifetimes. That moment was confirmation, I was born for this.

Q: As a true triple threat—singer, dancer, and actress—where does your heart truly lie? Which one fuels your passion the most?

A: Honestly, I’m a performer at heart. Whether it’s singing, dancing or acting, they all fuel my passion in different ways. However, if I had to pick which one makes me feel the most alive it’s definitely singing.

Q: We know you’re always working on something exciting—can you give us a sneak peek into any upcoming projects or collaborations?

A: Yes! I am currently working on an EP and am sooo excited about the new music I am creating. I am tapping into my culture, ancestors, and spiritual lineage. I’ve never felt so sure about my sound. So expect an EP and surprise collaborations very soon.

Q: The music industry isn’t always glamorous. What’s one of the toughest lessons you’ve had to learn along the way, and how did it shape you?

A: No one’s gonna come save you. No manager, no label, no investor. That shaped me to become self sufficient. I have played every role from manager, booking agent, marketing strategist to makeup artist, stylist, and creative director.

Q: What’s the most powerful piece of advice you’ve ever received from someone you admire—and what wisdom would you pass on to up-and-coming artists?

A: Hardwork beats talent when talent fails to workhard. You can’t cheat yourself. So get clear on what you want, be intentional with every move, and energetically align yourself with the things you want. Manifestion without action is just a moodboard.

Q: You’ve collaborated with some incredible talent—was there one artist who left a lasting impression or brought out something new in you?

A: It was definitely my collaboration with Konshens. We didn’t know each other, but I dm’ed him and sent him my song, “Tumba”, asking if he’d like to collab. He listened to it, instantly believed in it, and jumped on it. He shot the music video with me and even came to Despierta América to perform it with me off of pure belief. He was solid from day 1. That taught me to be fearless with what you want, cause you’d be surprised what could happen.

Q: Miami is known for its energy, culture, and hustle. How has living there impacted your journey and opened doors in your career?

A: God knew I had to be born and raised in Miami haha. This city matches my entire essence. Tropical, sexy, loud and fearless. Also, being that Miami is a city where many talented and successful people live and visit, it has given me the luxury of meeting and building great relationships that have opened many doors for me.

Q: Being in the spotlight comes with challenges. How do you stay grounded and protect your peace in an industry full of pressure and distractions?

A: God. Meditation. Prayer. Taking time daily to feed and fill my spirit with light. It gets dark out there. If you don’t feed your spirit or mind something else will.

Q: If you could collaborate with any artist in the world—past or present—who would be your dream match-up and why?

A: I would LOVE to collaborate with Bad Gyal. Since the first time I heard her song, Mercadona, I fell in love with her, her vibe, her tone. I know our energies combined would be amazing.

Q: Miami’s flavor goes beyond music—what’s your go-to comfort food or dish that reminds you you’re home?

A: Rice and beans, steak and sweet plantains with a Jupina and a colada to top it off!

Q: Fast-forward five years—where do you see yourself as an artist, and what do you hope your impact will be by then?

A: In 5 years, I see myself as a Grammy award winning, worldwide charting and touring Latina powerhouse. Who is a brand, a feeling, a light here to inspire and motivate women to become their highest self.
