Jheral “The Jewel of the Caribbean,” whose real name is Jesús Alberto Hernández Bonfante, is a Colombian Afrobeat singer, born on September 14, 1992, in Cartagena. From an early age, he displayed a strong inclination for music, a passion he cultivated while growing up in his hometown. After completing his studies at the Hijos de María Educational Institution, in 2012, he began a digital audio production course at SENA, an experience that strengthened his professional path in music.

That same year, Jheral actively began his career as a composer, performer, and producer, working with discipline to develop his own sound, characterized by its versatility and the fusion of Afro-Latin, European, and Anglo-Saxon rhythms. During his early days, he combined his artistic passion with jobs as a bricklayer, welder, and motorcycle taxi driver, which not only allowed him to contribute to his family’s livelihood but also to invest in the creation of his first independent recording studio.

In 2013, Jheral began to gain recognition with his single “Soldado de Amor,” a track that positioned him on the Colombian coastal music scene. This success attracted the attention of established national artists, who invited him to collaborate, initially as a composer and producer. Thanks to these experiences, Jheral established himself as one of Cartagena’s most versatile and experienced artists, contributing to numerous musical projects.

On August 7, 2024, he released his first EP, titled “COMPLEX,” a milestone in his career that received national and international acclaim, especially with songs like “MORBO,” which became Afrobeat anthems. Later, on December 18, 2024, he released his second EP, “EXO2,” which marked a turning point in his artistic identity. Shortly after, on March 7, 2025, he released the single “Tus labios,” which reached #1 on Spotify’s 50 most viral singles in several countries and ranked among the top spots on various digital platforms.

Jheral is widely recognized for his distinctive Afrobeat style, incorporating elements from other genres and spearheading its evolution. Currently, he collaborates with international artists and has established himself as a leading figure in global Latin music. He has received multiple accolades from the public and has been praised by world-class artists, who highlight his talent, authenticity, and capacity for reinvention.
