Romeo Santos is stepping outside music for one of his most personal collaborations yet.
The bachata star has partnered with celebrated cigar maker Carlos “Carlito” Fuente Jr. on the Fuente Fuente OpusX Por Amor al Tío, a limited-edition cigar created as both a tribute to Santos’ late uncle and a fundraising vehicle for charitable work benefiting children with autism and communities in the Dominican Republic.
The collaboration will support Santos’ newly established Los Santos Foundation, while proceeds will also benefit the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation, founded by the Fuente and Newman families. The cigar is scheduled to make its formal debut during the Los Santos Foundation’s inaugural fundraising gala on December 3 at the Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood, Florida.
What makes the project more significant than a typical celebrity-branded product is the story behind its name.
“Por Amor al Tío,” loosely translated as “for the love of my uncle,” honors Santos’ late uncle, whom the singer has described as a father figure and who was also an admirer of OpusX cigars. The tribute adds another layer to a collaboration already built around family, a theme that has long been central to Santos’ music, public identity and Dominican heritage.
The cigar itself has been in development for roughly three years. Produced in the Dominican Republic by Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia., it uses Dominican tobacco grown at Chateau de la Fuente in Bonao. Only 500 boxes are planned, with each decorative chest containing 20 box-pressed cigars and a pair of cigar scissors made by French accessories company Elie Bleu. The release is expected to remain tied specifically to Los Santos Foundation fundraising events rather than a conventional retail rollout.
That scarcity will inevitably attract attention from cigar collectors, but for Santos, the more important development is what surrounds the release.
He launched the Los Santos Foundation in August 2026 as a nonprofit organization focused on improving access to support, education and resources for children with autism and their families. The initiative stems from Santos’ own experience as the father of an autistic child, a personal connection that has pushed one of Latin music’s most private superstars into a more visible philanthropic role.
The foundation describes its mission as creating greater opportunity and inclusion through educational resources, family support programs, community initiatives and longer-term development efforts.
For Santos, that represents an important expansion of what his influence looks like at this stage of his career.
For more than two decades, his cultural reach has largely been measured through bachata, first as the defining voice of Aventura and later as a solo artist who helped take the genre into arenas and global pop conversations. The Los Santos Foundation creates a different kind of platform: one tied less to releases and touring cycles and more to legacy.
The Fuente partnership fits naturally into that transition.
Both sides carry deep Dominican connections. OpusX is produced in the Dominican Republic, while the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation has worked since 2001 to support children and families in the mountainous Bonao region through education, healthcare and community development initiatives.
That shared geography makes the collaboration more culturally layered than simply placing Santos’ name next to a luxury product. A Dominican-made cigar honoring a member of his family is being used to raise money for two charitable missions — one connected to autism advocacy and the other rooted directly in Dominican communities.
The December gala will formally bring those worlds together.
Along with Santos and Fuente, the event is expected to recognize figures including Baseball Hall of Famer David Ortiz, while Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader is scheduled to serve as keynote speaker.
The timing is also notable. Santos only publicly introduced the Los Santos Foundation last month, making the OpusX collaboration one of its first major fundraising activations. Rather than launching the organization with awareness alone, the strategy immediately connects the foundation to an established charitable network and a high-value collectible capable of generating attention outside Santos’ traditional music audience.
For an artist whose career has largely been defined by carefully controlled releases and selective public access, that may be the most meaningful shift here: Santos is beginning to turn his cultural capital into a more permanent philanthropic infrastructure.
