This month we connected with Brazillan pop artist Gabby B in an exlcuisve Q&A talking about her music career and new projects. Check out the Q&A and let us know what you think by leaving a comment below.
Q: You’ve graced so many stages with your talent—was there one that felt like a dream come true or left a lasting mark on your journey?
A: Performing the National Anthem for multiple NBA teams like the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, and Orlando Magic was definitely a surreal moment for me. I never would have imagined getting to represent the country on such big stages. It was such an honor, and those performances really left a lasting mark on my journey.
Q: You’re always evolving as an artist—what exciting new projects are you currently cooking up that fans should keep an eye out for?
A: I have a lot of exciting things coming! I’m not ready to reveal too much yet, but I’m working on a brand new Brazilian Funk fusion project. It’s not just an EP or an album, it’s going to be a whole world, full of energy, culture, and surprises. I’ve also been in the studio cooking up some possible collaborations that I think fans are really going to love. I can’t wait for everyone to experience it!
Q: Every artist faces challenges. What’s one tough lesson the music industry taught you that truly changed your perspective?
A: One tough lesson the music industry taught me is that not everyone is going to see your vision the way you do, and that’s okay. I learned that you have to trust yourself and stay true to your creativity, even when there’s outside pressure to change who you are or what you’re about. It really changed my perspective and made me stronger as an artist and as a person.
Q: What’s the most meaningful piece of advice you’ve ever received from someone you admire—and what advice would you give to rising artists chasing success?
A: One of the most meaningful pieces of advice I ever received was “Protect your energy.” Not every opportunity, collaboration, or connection is meant for you, even if it looks good on paper. That changed the way I approach my career. Now, I’m a lot more mindful about the people I work with and the projects I say yes to.
For any rising artists out there, my advice would be: Learn the business side too. Talent is important, but understanding how the industry works will save you a lot of heartbreak and help you build something that lasts.
Q: You’ve collaborated with some amazing talent—who’s been your favorite artist to work with, and what made that experience special?
A: Collaborating with Brray was definitely one of my favorite experiences. He brought such a fun and positive energy during the music video, and the whole process felt really natural. We just clicked creatively, and it made the collaboration so much more exciting. He jumped on the track as soon as he heard it, which was really cool and showed that he genuinely liked the song. It’s always special when you can vibe with someone on both a musical and personal level.
Q: Miami is a city full of highs and lows. How has living there influenced your career and opened doors for you creatively or professionally?
A: Living in Miami has been such a melting pot of cultures, which has helped me find my unique sound blending pop, Brazilian funk, and Latin elements. There’s always something happening here with events and festivals, so it’s opened a lot of doors for me professionally too.
Q: Fame comes with pressure. How do you protect your peace, stay grounded, and keep negative energy at bay in such a high-intensity industry?
A: Protecting my peace is super important to me. I try to stay grounded by surrounding myself with family and people who truly support me. I also make sure to take time for myself, whether that’s watching a good movie, drawing, or just stepping away from social media when I need to. It’s easy to get caught up in everything, but I remind myself why I started and focus on the love I have for music and performing. That keeps the negative energy from getting in.
Q: Was music always your calling, or did you once dream of a completely different path before finding your voice as an artist?
A: I always loved music, but I didn’t always know it would be the thing for me. Growing up, I was drawn to everything entertainment like acting, dancing, and performing. Music just ended up being the path that felt the most natural and gave me the best way to express myself. It’s funny how everything I loved kind of came together through being an artist.
