On a night filled with excitement, music, and grand celebrations, Jay Wheeler took home the award in the “Pop Artist of the Year” category at the 2025 Premios Tu Música Urbano. The singer, known for his distinctive romantic style and ability to connect with audiences, once again demonstrates his great versatility in exploring diverse genres such as reggaeton, trap, ballads, and pop.
“This award means a lot to me. Being home in Puerto Rico and singing to my people is always special. I’m grateful to my fans who, from day one, have brought each of my songs to life and made them their own,” the artist said after receiving the award.
Wheeler also competed in a total of five categories this year, including On the Road Male, Remix of the Year with “WYA REMIX RED,” Pop Song for his song “Textos fríos,” and Album of the Year – Male Artist for his acclaimed album “Girasoles.”
The evening also included a musical performance by the artist, who took the stage to perform “Roma,” one of the hit songs from his latest album, “Girasoles,” in front of a rapturous audience.
Esta participación especial en los Premios Tu Música Urbano en su natal Puerto Rico se da en el marco de su más reciente producción discográfica, lanzado en abril de este año bajo el sello Dynamic Récords / EMPIRE, el álbum “Girasoles” consta de 15 canciones que simbolizan el crecimiento artístico y personal del intérprete a través de tres etapas: los retos de la vida, el proceso de transformación y la madurez emocional. El disco debutó en el Top Albums Debut Global de Spotify y colocó tres canciones simultáneamente en tendencia en las listas de YouTube de Puerto Rico.
Entre los temas más destacados del álbum se encuentran “Una Como Tú”, “No Sé Qué Me Queda (NSQMQ)”, “Roma” y “Abrázame Fuerte”, que se han convertido en favoritos del público. No obstante, ha sido su colaboración con Omar Courtz, “Nota”, la que continúa escalando posiciones con más de 28 millones de reproducciones globales y acercándose a los 5 millones de vistas en YouTube.
