The unforgettable Jenni Rivera, singer, entrepreneur, activist, and one of the most influential voices in regional Mexican music will receive a posthumous honor this fall. The iconic “Diva de la Banda” will officially be inducted into the Long Beach City College (LBCC) Hall of Fame during its 53rd annual induction ceremony on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at The Grand Long Beach.
Born and raised in Long Beach, Jenni Rivera broke barriers in music and business, becoming a role model for millions in the Latino community across the United States and beyond. Her induction recognizes not only her extraordinary career in entertainment but also her influence as an activist and businesswoman who used her platform to uplift others.
The honor will be accepted by her daughter, Jacqie Rivera, CEO of Jenni Rivera Enterprises, who continues to lead the brand alongside her siblings. “My mom was always a determined and dream-driven woman. College was an important part of her beginnings a place where she believed anything was possible,” Jacqie shared. “Receiving this recognition in her honor is a reminder that her story continues to inspire many to keep pursuing their dreams, no matter where they come from.”
Through her family, Jenni’s voice and legacy remain alive. With Jacqie at the helm of Jenni Rivera Enterprises, the Rivera family continues to protect and expand the artist’s cultural impact while celebrating her contributions to Latin music. Fans across generations still connect deeply with her music, resilience, and message of empowerment.
The LBCC Hall of Fame was established in 1972 by the Associated Student Body Cabinet and is now overseen by the Long Beach City College Foundation. Each year, it honors distinguished alumni who have made significant contributions in their fields. With the induction of the 2024 honorees, the Hall of Fame reached 192 outstanding members, many recognized nationally and internationally.
This year, Jenni Rivera’s induction stands as one of the most emotional and symbolic moments in the ceremony’s history, honoring her connection to the very community where her journey began.
A Legacy That Continues to Inspire
LBCC Superintendent-President Dr. Mike Muñoz reflected on the milestone:
“Long Beach City College is deeply honored to welcome Jenni Rivera into our Hall of Fame. Jenni’s music, her courage, and her unyielding voice for women and the Latinx community continue to inspire generations. She showed us what it means to rise above challenges, to stay true to our roots, and to use success as a platform to uplift others. Jenni stands as a powerful role model for our students, faculty, and the entire LBCC community, and her legacy reminds us that our voices matter, our stories matter, and our dreams can change the world. Que su voz siga guiando a nuestra comunidad con fuerza, esperanza y orgullo.”
As LBCC prepares to celebrate Jenni Rivera’s induction, fans, alumni, and the Long Beach community will come together to honor a woman whose impact transcends music. From sold-out stages to boardrooms, from her outspoken activism to her entrepreneurial achievements, Jenni Rivera remains a symbol of perseverance, empowerment, and pride.
Her voice may have left us too soon, but her legacy continues to guide generations, reminding us that dreams, determination, and cultural pride can truly change the world.
