Colombian music icon Carlos Vives will be honored as this year’s “Agent of Change” at Premios Juventud 2025, recognizing his decades-long commitment to social impact, community development, and cultural preservationacross Latin America.
The awards show will broadcast live from Panama City on Thursday, September 25 at 7 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. CT on Univision, UNIMÁS, Galavisión, and ViX, making history as one of the most culturally vibrant editions yet in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
A Legacy of Social Impact
Vives’ recognition as “Agent of Change” shines a light on the work of his foundation, Tras La Perla. Founded in 2015, the initiative focuses on sustainable development in Santa Marta and surrounding areas through projects that:
- Improve local infrastructure
- Expand access to high-quality education
- Promote leadership and cultural expression
- Restore urban and natural spaces
- Strengthen community resources and opportunities
By coordinating public and private efforts, Vives has helped generate concrete opportunities for Colombians, turning cultural pride into long-term social progress.
A Historic Performance with Grupo Niche
In addition to receiving the award, Carlos Vives will perform live at Premios Juventud 2025 alongside the legendary Grupo Niche. Together, they will present a salsa rendition of Vives’ classic “La Tierra del Olvido,” a performance set to be one of the night’s most anticipated moments.
The evening will also feature a special surprise collaboration with Sergio George, promising an electrifying fusion of Latin music’s past, present, and future.
From Bogotá to the World
The honor comes fresh off Vives’ spectacular concert at Festival Cordillera in Bogotá on September 13. Performing to a crowd of more than 20,000 fans, Vives delivered a breathtaking 80-minute set of 14 generational hits enhanced by pyrotechnics, striking visuals, and non-stop energy.
During the show, he announced that he will embark on a major Colombian tour in 2026, continuing his mission of bringing music and culture back to the people.
